Borderlands 2 Commander Lilith And The Fight For Sanctuary DLC Is Free Until July 8th

Gearbox Software announced that leading up to the release of Borderlands 3 some brand new DLC has become available for those who own Borderlands 2 or Borderlands: The Handsome Collection from now until July 8th, 2019.

The DLC is free for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, and you can download it by claiming your copy through the Borderlands.com claim page.

The announcement for the DLC actually took place during Microsoft’s Xbox E3 press conference, complete with a trailer revealing all new outfits for the vault hunters, some new skins for the vehicles, a new level cap increase, and the new legendary Effervescent tier weapon class and loot options. You can check out the trailer below if you missed it before.

The DLC also comes with some new areas to explore, as well as new story-related content that supposedly works as a prequel to set the stage for the story that unfolds in Borderlands 3.

It involves Firehawk Lilith and the Crimson Raiders attempting to leave Sanctuary to hunt for some treasure via a vault map. However, Dahl soldiers arrive and during the scuffle Lilith and the vault hunters are scattered across the desert where they have to make their way back to Sanctuary to stop the Dahl soldiers and their toxic substance infecting Pandora.

As noted over on the Borderlands website, the new area can be accessed from the fast travel stations located around the map. It is recommended that you’re at least level 30 before you start the new DLC run.

Alternatively you can just build a brand new vault hunter and start the DLC at level 30 so you don’t have to worry about playing through the rest of the game to access the content.

Again, the DLC is free on Xbox One, PS4, and PC for a limited time only. So you may want to jump in on the deal right now before July 8th, when the DLC gets a price tag.
