Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Videos Show Off Flying, Fishing, And Combat

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot was announced a little before E3 2019 and is another re-telling of the Dragon Ball Z story where you will assume the role of Goku. The action game that reportedly has “RPG” elements is set to come out across PC, PS4, and Xbox One sometime in early 2020.

Firstly, DBZ fans will be able to relive the story of Dragon Ball Z in an “overwhelming volume” according to Bandai Namco. The devs behind the forthcoming game claim it will have many scenes from the original story that players will recognize. However, these scenes are “meticulously recreated,” which join “some scenes that have not been depicted before” in Kakarot.

“Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will take players on the most dramatic and epic telling of the Dragon Ball Z story, experienced through the eyes of Kakarot, the Saiyan better known as Goku. The game will tell the legendary story of Dragon Ball Z, taking players on an unforgettable adventure to experience over-the-top battles and challenging quests, create life-long friendships, and crusade to protect Earth from fearsome villains.”

Furthermore, the game in question is not open-world. Bandai Namco explains that the reasoning behind this move is so that they can focus on “retelling the story” without losing any story elements. Additionally, each section or “area” as the devs call it will open up through story progression where each map is quite large but not open-world.

I’m not sure how this will operate given that the devs want a heavy focus on Goku, but there are other elements like sub-stories for Android 8 and so on that will be in the game that Bandai Namco thinks “fans will appreciate.”

Looking back to Goku, the theme or idea of the game is to experience the life of the iconic character in various ways like riding/flying on the Nimbus, eating different foods, going fishing, hunting animals, and doing more.

Some of the activities listed above will add buffs like temporary attack power or permanent defense. The key behind it all (buffs) depends on how you manage eating foods and participating in other activities around the world.
