Glen Schofield Announces Narrative-Focused Game Set Within PUBG Universe

According to a new report, former Dead Space and Call of Duty developer, Glen Schofield, will head Striking Distance, which is a new PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds game development studio. The game that’s in development as we speak is an “original narrative experience” that takes place in the PUBG universe.

Website Game Rant reports that the new game will not be a sequel to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. The site also mentions the new title isn’t another battle royale game. However, the new studio that goes by the name of “Striking Distance” will be working on an “original narrative experience that takes place in the PUBG universe.”

Here’s Schofield explaining the new game, company and his portfolio of titles under his belt in a new video courtesy of PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS YouTube channel:

“We’re excited to announce Striking Distance, a new PUBG game development studio headed by industry luminary Glen Schofield.”

Personally, I’m not holding my breath on this new company or game to be something decent but rather something contrary to noteworthy. Obviously, time will tell how the company and the new game will pan out, but for now, I’ll remain skeptical.

If you’re not like me and wish to find out more about this game and who Schofield is, the publication site relays the following info on the latter opting for a crystal ball for you to speculate on the former:

“Schofield is an industry veteran, perhaps best known for his time at the now-defunct Visceral Games where he worked as an executive producer on the Dead Space series. Schofield later co-founded Call of Duty developer Sledgehammer Games alongside Michael Condrey, working on Modern Warfare 3, Advanced Warfare, and WWII.”

As it stands now, The new Striking Distance game set in the PUBG universe that’s currently in development has no release date or specific platforms it will make its debut on, but that should change moving forward.

With all of that said, how do you think this new game will turn out? Or do you think it’s too early to tell?
