Hunt: Showdown, PvPvE Shooter Enters Game Preview Program On Xbox One

Crytek announced that their first-person PvPvE shooter, Hunt: Showdown, has entered into thee Game Preview program for the Xbox One, indicating that it has advanced to the next stage of development in its current cycle.

The game is priced at $29.99 and you can pick up a digital copy of the post-frontier shooter from over on the Microsoft Store.

The object of the game sees you team up with a buddy and go on the hunt for a big, bad, ugly boss located somewhere in the swampy bayou located down south in Louisiana.

The aesthetics and theme is totally original, as you have a mixture of weapons coming out of the Wild West while also featuring some of the guns being introduced for regular use during the turn of the 20th century.

The hook for Hunt: Showdown is that you and your partner aren’t out in the marsh alone. There are other players hunting monsters (and other hunters), too. You can get an idea of what the game is like with the trailer below.

The trailer is put together quite well, showcasing some of the environments, the weapons, and the abilities that players will have at their disposal as they hunt monsters, fight enemies, and take down other players.

The trailer’s selection of music is also quite fitting, with a dirty south remix to fit in with the game’s motif.

I’m just glad we finally have a game that focuses so heavily on a variation of shotguns. It feels like out of all the games out there we have so few options when it comes to different types of long rifles and shotguns. So props to Crytek for giving us shotgun lovers a bevy supply shottys to choose from.

As far as content is concerned, the Game Preview rendition of the shooter comes with the Classic Match and the Quick Match options, along with two maps, two bosses, and both single player and multiplayer options. It’s not much, I know, but hopefully they fill out the content by the time the full version of the game releases. I would also really dig a campaign-style orientation of the maps, where it’s a little more story focused, almost like S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Anyway, the game is available right now in Early Access over on the Steam store as well as in the Game Preview section for the Xbox One.
