Rally Rock ‘N Racing Launches On Switch With 4-Player Split-Screen Racing

Local multiplayer is a rare option in many games today, mostly because a lot of AAA developers want people to re-purchase games again, and again, and again, instead of being able to enjoy each other’s company within the comfort of your home via multiplayer split-screen play. Nintendo, however, has never abandoned their ethos of catering their electronic entertainment to the ebullient masses who indulge in a little couch-centered multiplayer chaos. This has also attracted various developers to Nintendo’s fold who focus on said content, such as EnjoyUp Games’ Rally Rock ‘N Racing for the Nintendo Switch.

The 3D, chase-cam racing game recently launched for the Switch over on the Nintendo eShop for just $9.99 in North America and €9,99 for those over in Europe.

During the launch week, however, the game is being discounted by up to 20% off, so instead of paying $10 for the game you can get it for just $7.99. A nice little summer steal for your digital collection on the Switch. You’ll be able to play it on the go while you commute from work or school, or plop that bad boy in a dock and challenge your buddies to some 4-player split-screen action from the comfort of your couch.

The game reminds me a little bit of Beetle Adventure Racing on the N64, just made for today’s audience and without the licensed vehicles.

Physics-wise the game seems to be decent enough. Obviously it’s geared more toward the simcade crowd than the simulation audience, and reasonably so given that the game has a colorful, inked art-style and is obviously aimed at a younger audience.

In addition to the multiplayer mode there’s also the Championship Mode, Time Trial, and Arcade Mode. You’ll race across a variety of different tracks spanning various environments all set to rock and roll music.

If you’re interested in checking Rock ‘N Racing Rally out you can grab a digital copy right now from the Nintendo eShop. It’s a shame physical copies weren’t made because this seems like the perfect little pastime game to pick up when you have five minutes to burn and feel like playing something quick and easy while on the go.
