Ravelry Knitting Community Bans Users From Supporting President Trump

Ravelry, the social networking knitting community, openly announced on June 23rd, 2019 that users are no longer allowed to support President Donald Trump. They have openly and publicly declared that the community is banned from supporting the current sitting President of the United States of America.

This news comes courtesy of a tweet from the official Ravelry knitting community Twitter account, which commands a hefty 113,000 follower presence on the social media service.

They link to a post over on the site, which explicitly states that they’re frogging favorable opinions of the POTUS…

“We are banning support of Donald Trump and his administration on Ravelry.

“This includes support in the form of forum posts, projects, patterns, profiles, and all other content. Note that your project data will never be deleted. We will never delete your Ravelry project data for any reason and if a project needs to be removed from the site, we will make sure that you have access to your data. If you are permanently banned from Ravelry, you will still be able to access any patterns that you purchased. Also, we will make sure that you receive a copy of your data.

“We cannot provide a space that is inclusive of all and also allow support for open white supremacy. Support of the Trump administration is undeniably support for white supremacy.”

Ravelry’s purlwise of race war rhetoric isn’t an isolated situation. It’s becoming increasingly common from Left-wing activists, which is exactly what the Christchurch, New Zealand shooter wanted. His goals aligned with accelerationism, in hopes of creating more and more divide within public discourse and policy until there’s a snap and civil war breaks out.

In this case, Ravelry obviously doesn’t think this is a tink, and has no qualms about indulging such political divides within their community. In fact, they note that they picked up this notion from the website RPG.net, writing…

“Much of this policy was first written by a roleplaying game site, not unlike Ravelry but for RPGs, named RPG.net. We thank them for their thoughtful work.”

This is correct.

Back on October 30th, 2018 the role-playing website announced that they were banning users from supporting President Donald Trump.

The Wyzard, a pronoun-profile abettor, hopped into the Twitter thread to corroborate RPG.net’s censorship of President Donald Trump support.

One must wonder if these same people would be yelling “racism!” if a forum or community banned support of President Barack Obama on the grounds of him advocating for racism?

In any case, Ravelry has made it known that they don’t want patriots, nationalists, or supporters of the United States President being selvedges stitched onto the fringes of their community any longer, and have outright banned such individuals.
