The Princess, Stray Cat and Matters Of The Heart Censored Version Launches June 17th On Steam [Update]

[Update 6/4/2019:] Fruitbat has confirmed that the Steam version of The Princess, The Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart is not based on the censored PS4 version but is indeed closer to the Switch version. It also contains 17 new CGs and a new “Mewsings” scene wholly unique to the Steam version that was not present int he original 2016 R18+ version of the game on PC.

[Original article:] Fruitbat Factory Tokyotoon announced that The Princess, The Stray Cat and Matters of the Heart (better known to most people as Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart) will be launching on Steam for PC starting June 17th. The toned down erotic visual novel also has a playable demo that’s free to download right now over on the Steam store page.

OperationRainfall picked up the news from a tweet made by Fruitbat Factory on June 1st, 2019 where they announced that the game would be making its way to Steam after having launched on the Nintendo Switch and PS4 in Japan.

As noted in the tweet, the PC version will include full HD art along with the leading voice actresses that helped make the original ero-novel popular back when it originally released on PC back in 2016.

However, there’s a pretty big difference between the version that’s launching on Steam and the one that came out in Japan years ago. The original PC version was an eroge with full-on explicit scenes. The Steam version will be based on the CERO D version of the game that was released on the Nintendo Switch and PS4, according to a tweet from Fruitbat Factory.

If you check the CERO ratings guide you’ll find that the 17+ rating in Japan equates to CERO D. The scary part is whether this will be based on the PS4 or Switch version of the game since
The Princess, The Stray Cat and Matters of the Heart was infamously censored on PS4 due to Sony’s censorship policies.

The downside, however, is that this means that the Steam version will be the censored version of the game and not the original eroge version of the game that released back in 2016.

The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart

The Steam forums are currently lit up with fury right now since the Steam release won’t be the 18+ version of the game. Some of the forum members stated that it’s the butchered PS4 version and not the Switch version, which would mean that pretty much all the fan-service shots are cut out of the game.

While the port version wasn’t confirmed, what was confirmed was why the game isn’t going to be the 18+ version on PC. Noisy Pixel informed the gaming audience that the reason that Fruitbat had to settle for the CERO D version is due to licensing issues, where the publisher told the outlet…

“There’s no 18+ version coming at the moment for voice licensing reasons (the developers are only allowed to use the console version’s voices outside Japan).”

So what does this mean? It means that for now modders will have to do a heck of a lot of work to import the CGs and content from the original 2016 release to bring the Steam version up to par. The question is: will anyone actually undertake such a mammoth task?

Given the already abject disappointment being expressed by the community it doesn’t seem like they’re all that keen on playing the toned down version of the game when it launches on June 17th later this month.
