Koei Tecmo and Gust’s upcoming JRPG, Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & The Secret Hideout, recently received a brand new trailer that revealed the game’s main theme song performed by Sayaka Kanda. The song is called “Rainbow Summer”, and it accompanies nearly two minutes of additional footage from the upcoming game, featuring both cinematics and in-game play.
Twinfinite spotted the new trailer over on Koei Tecmo’s American YouTube channel, where gamers were treated to a look at Ryza and her friends, either training, adapting their magic, or just looking plain sexy for the viewers.
The trailer isn’t story-focused so we don’t really get much info on the plot or the gameplay mechanics, but there are plenty of sequences involving the characters and their quirky personalities. You can check out the video below.
So there are a couple of true highlights that stand out in this trailer. But it’s vital we start with the most important aspects first.
At the 33 second mark where we see Ryza. The camera zooms past the characters as Ryza stands with a side-profile to the camera. This gives us a perfect full-body focus within the frame over the next two or so seconds before it moves in closer.
However, as it goes in close the camera captures the protrusions of her chest, which exude the kind of feminine confidence not found in any recent Western games. Notice how her back is arched and we get to see just how far out her chest is sticking. It’s inviting; a luxury cruise across a cornucopia of covered cleavage for the eyes.
We don’t get quite as much of a focus on Ryza’s thighs in this trailer as in previous trailers and promotional art, but there are still a few shots scattered throughout the two minutes so that the thigh gap is visible.
Another big highlight is the rather bountiful villainess, whose massive assets wibble and wobble just from basic movements. We get to see her full body figure, but not first before there’s a nice front profile where you get to see just how large she is up top.
The decolletage is more than inviting. There’s a giant visible separation between her boobs that would make the Grand Canyon jealous. Those mountainous balloons are only kept in place by that single strap down near the bottom of her mammaries where the curvature takes place.
Now beyond the important character art that we get to see in the trailer and the proportions of the females, Gust did note in the press release that they’ve reworked the engine to focus on all new dynamic shadow rendering and soft-shadow layers within the environment to help them pop more both during gameplay and the cinematics.
It’s quite obvious that the art team spent a lot of time both on the picturesque depictions of the environments and Ryza’s thighs.
The game will also feature a brand new synthesis system for devising new alchemy and making new potions. To help add some depth to the meta-game there’s also some overhauled resource gathering mechanics and new ways to gather resources. So we’ll see how this will affect the gameplay loops and replayability.
You can look for Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & The Secret Hideout to launch on October 29th in North America, and November 1st in Europe. The game will be available for PS4, PC, and the Nintendo Switch. But obviously you’re going to want to go with the Switch or PC version if you don’t want to support Sony and their censorship policies.
