Epic Games Store Exclusive The Outer Worlds Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

When publisher Private Division and developer Obsidian Entertainment announced the Outer Worlds during a time when Bethesda released the controversial Fallout 76, many people were happy. However, that joy faded for some in March when the devs stated that The Outer Worlds is an Epic Games Store exclusive. Contrary to all things PC, the game will hit Nintendo’s Switch sometime at a later date.

The quirky sci-fi game will also debut on home consoles such as PS4, and Xbox One on October 25th, 2019, which is the same date as the  Epic Game Store launch date. Steam users will have to wait a full year before going hands-on with Obsidian’s work.

Speaking of a long wait time, Switch users will have to play the waiting game, too. In a new video on Obsidian’s YouTube channel, it goes into detail about the port and how the devs are working with Virtuos to bring the sci-fi game to the nifty device.

In addition to the above, senior producer at Obsidian, Matthew Singh, offers the same info on The Outer Worlds as heard before in that the game is a single-player sci-fi RPG offering choices and consequences. And topping things off, Singh ends the video by saying the Switch version will follow the launch of other platforms at a later date:

“The Outer Worlds, the upcoming single-player sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division, is coming to Nintendo Switch following the launch of the other platforms.”

Lastly, as for Virtuos’ track record, the dev team worked on ports such as the Switch version of L.A. Noire, and Dark Souls Remastered. Virtuos works also span from Starlink: Battle for Atlas (Switch), XCOM: Enemy Unknown (iOS) to Assassin’s Creed Liberation Remastered (PC, PS4, and Xbox One).

The Outer Worlds is coming to PC via the Epic Games Store, PS4, and Xbox One on October 25th. The Switch version is slated to drop at a later date, while the Steam version is coming a year later.
