G-Star 2019 Early Bird Registration Is Open

The Korean Association of the Game Industry announced that early bird registration has gone live for G-Star 2019, which is set to take place between November 14th and 17th later this year during the fall. Those who register for the business exhibition will receive a discount if registration is completed before July 17th.

Interestingly enough, if you visit the registration board, there’s a notice from July 4th indicating that all of the B2B booth spaces for the initial allocation have all sold out, and so standby application forms are available as they make more space available.

This year’s event will bring together more than 2,000 trade visitors and 700 exhibitors from across 36 different countries to the annual event held in Busan, South Korea. They’re also expecting a turnout of more than 200,000 gamers in the consumer halls.

The annual events are known for basically being the Southeast Asian version of E3, where a lot of studios and developers from South Korea, Japan, and China show up to show off their upcoming titles, usually of the MMO and mobile variety.

Usually you’ll get a firsthand look at some of the upcoming titles from top Asian studios such as Nexon, Tencent, Netmarble, and others.

Unfortunately a large portion of new games announced at G-Star are oriented around mobile gaming since that’s what’s all the rage in South Korea, Japan and China these days. But occasionally there are some hidden gems, like Traha, which seem to show the same kind of promise that Black Desert Online did.

Over the years, though, the shift from desktop PC gaming to mobile gaming has been unavoidable, but with the new game consoles on the horizon maybe we’ll see some glimpses into the future with future projects destined to hit PC and home consoles… hopefully?

Anyway, you can learn more about this year’s G-Star event by visiting the official website.
