If you were hoping to escape from the rabid Left’s obsession with identitarianism and segregationist politics by seeking refuge in HBO’s upcoming Watchmen series, you are way off the reservation, honcho.
“What in 2019 is the equivalent of the nuclear standoff between the Americans and the Russians? It is race and the police.
“There is no defeating white supremacy — it’s not going away. There are no easy answers and grandiose solution.
“It is not supposed to be a world that you recognize to Trojan horse themes that are in a real world in a fictional one. What is actual history and what is alt-history and things start to get blended in the middle.”
This was pretty obvious with the latest trailer that aired during the San Diego Comic-Con, where a bunch of white, rust belt white men donned Rorschach masks and targeted black police officers.
The police responded by donning yellow masks, and going after the white Rorschach cultists, rounding them up and waging war against them in the name of “justice”.
Helping aid the police outside of their normal activities is Regina King’s character, who is also a fellow officer that takes on the extracurricular role of a vigilante against the cultists.
The very first trailer that aired back in May was a little less on-the-nose about the Left-wing political slant and the topical matter lifted right out of CNN headlines or a Guardian op-ed.
While Lindelof proclaims that the series honors Alan Moore’s legacy canon, and takes place well after the events where the comics ended, it’s pretty obvious they’re veering far off the plantation with this newest HBO adaptation.
The nine-episode series will air this October, and will continue to pepper the general population with the kind of propaganda we’ve all become extremely tired of in recent years. Instead of wondering who watches the Watchmen, most of us will be asking “When will it end?”
