The declining shares of Activision Blizzard Inc. has caused many to eye it as a potential takeover target. Nick Licouris. of the investment firm Gerber Kawasaki Inc., is making the case for Disney to be the ones to scoop up the game company.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Licouris touted the potential synergy between Activision Blizzard Inc.’s E-Sports division and Disney’s TV networks. I’m guessing Licouris actually believes mainstream America would tune in to watch a bunch of spastic kids play games like Overwatch and Starcraft. He also probably believes that the fans of E-Sports would continue watching alongside their parents.
Additionally, Licouris feels Disney would have an opportunity to leverage it’s intellectual properties in Blizzard Activision games. So, if he had his way characters like Thor and Valkyrie could wind up in World of Warcraft. Meanwhile Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren would pop up in Overwatch. Of course, Disney wouldn’t be able to resist tossing Mickey Mouse and crew into Candy Crush. If that isn’t the boomer idea of the year I don’t know what is.
If anything could make Blizzard Activision games worse than they have become in the last few years it would be Disney control over the company. Especially with Disney’s history of appeasing SJWs and China.
That said, Nick Louris is touting Disney as being able to benefit from buying Activision Blizzard Inc. for one reason: money.
As I said, Nick Louris works for the investment firm Gerber Kawasaki Inc. This is important because Gerber Kawasaki Inc. owns just about 90,000 shares of Activision Blizzard Inc. Should Disney make a play to buy the company then those shares would no doubt go up. Seeing as Disney already has more than 152,000 shares in the company it is not a far fetched idea to think they might make a play to buy it out. If Disney does buy it out then I strongly believe we will see a swift end to several game franchises such as Starcraft in lieu of new Disney themed games.
There is only one worthwhile reaction to this news and it is a quote from Review Brah, “My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined”.
