Must Dash Amigos, Wacky 4-Player Racing Game Delayed To August 7th On Xbox One

We don’t get many comical racing titles where you’re on foot and you have to outrun giant boulders, dash past exploding pinatas, or out-maneuver speeding cars on a busy street, but British development studio miniBeast Games decided to take on that challenge with Must Dash Amigos. The isometric multiplayer racing game was originally scheduled to release on July 16th on the Microsoft Store for the Xbox One, but it’s been delayed all the way to August 7th.

In the press notice the developers revealed that the release date had to be slipped back by three weeks due to running into complications with the Xbox One build of the game. The two-man team weren’t happy with shipping with a possibly broken title out of the gate – and given that you only get one chance at a first impression and they didn’t want to Bethesda-it-up with launch day bugs and glitches, they decided to do the right proper thing and delay it.

Ben Lowther from miniBeast Games explained in the press release…

“There was a critical last-minute problem that caught us off-guard, and whilst it was a pretty rare occurrence we wanted to fix it before launching the game”

That’s how you do right, mate.

There’s no reason your game needs to release like a box of broken light bulbs, when the only thing people expect to do is turn on the product and see it working.

Now the good news is that the PC release is still scheduled to go live rather soon. In fact, it’s set to land on Steam starting July 23rd, 2019.

You can actually wishlist the game right now over on the Steam store ahead of its release.

As for the game itself, well it’s actually quite an inventive little title. It supports one through four players in a shared-screen environment where you must race through crazy obstacle-filled maps, each with their own obstacles, stage hazards and routes to master, along with a variety of weapons to collect to either remove obstructions or take down other players.

You can get a glimpse of the gameplay with the trailer below, showcasing the modes and mechanics of Must Dash Amigos.

The very first thing that came to mind when I saw the gameplay is that this seems like a Viva Piñata version of Crystal Dynamics’ Mad Dash.

The main difference between Mad Dash and Must Dash Amigos is that players are sharing a screen in the latter game, and once you fall off the platform, get eaten, crushed, blown up, or left behind, you’re eliminated from the race, so the objective is to stay in the screen, stay in the lead, and hopefully pass the finish line in first place.

It’s a neat little concept that we don’t see applied too often in racing games, and it’s nice that they focused on local multiplayer for once. The only downside is that it doesn’t appear to have online multiplayer, which is kind of a bummer because it would be pretty cool to be able to play online maybe when your friends or family aren’t around but you still like putting in some game time with Must Dash Amigos.

Anyway, you can look for the game to arrive on the Xbox One a couple of weeks after the PC version starting August 7th. For more info feel free to visit the official website.
