NBA 2K20 Announced, Will Likely Have Predatory MTX And Intrusive Ads

It looks like 2K and Visual Concepts were testing the waters with NBA 2K19’s unskippable ads and if they can make it into NBA 2K20 without backlash, given the latter title is set to hit PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia on September 6th, 2019.

Copy/paste mechanics? Check. The same game with a different name whilst scalping its player base? Check. MTX (microtransactions)? Check. Intrusive ads? Likely if the last iteration holds any indication.

That’s right, NBA 2K20 will release Q3 this year for PC and home consoles continuing the annual cycle.

And I bet you are thinking, “Hold up dude, the game isn’t even out yet, and you’re saying that it has predatory MTX? Wait for factual evidence before claiming stuff!” Well, there is factual proof according to NBA 2K20’s newly posted Steam page.

The basketball game’s fledgling Steam page shows off VC (Virtual Currency) and its pricing, which is NBA 2K’s in-game currency used to buy MTX. The page also shows off three different versions of NBA 2K20, which is up for pre-order.

If I had to give an educated guess how 2K and Visual Concepts will implement the unskippable ads, I’d say that they (the ads) will not appear at launch but post launch in a sneaky update. The publisher and devs are looking to capitalize on their fans by controlling backlash during times that aren’t effective.

Anyway, here’s the new teaser trailer that fans seem to like — and are willing to pre-order the game according to the comments on the following video — despite all of NBA 2K19’s woes:
