Bandai Namco unveiled the official reveal trailer for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 at this year’s Anime Expo event. The trailer is basically a no-nothing piece of promotional material, showcasing nothing of the gameplay, mechanics, or modes, and giving gamers little more than just a cinematic teaser to sink their teeth into.
Nevertheless, Twinfinite caught wind of the trailer, which showcases Luffy transforming through fire and brimstone while facing off against a larger than life foe. You can see the reveal trailer below, which seems to ape the presentation of Attack on Titan.
Fans are strangely yet duly excited about the fourth entry in the 3D hack-and-slash, beat-’em-up series. The last outing for this particular spinoff was back in 2015.
Bandai and Omega Force’s thousand-army take on One Piece was oddly popular enough to warrant a new entry in the series. For One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 we actually have no idea what the gameplay will be like, but since Omega Force and Koei Tecmo are back at the helm, it’s likely going to be very similar to Pirate Warriors 3, just with some upgrades here and there (hopefully).
I know for sure one of the more popular aspects of the game was the modding community, where modders had themselves a field day with with certain characters, namely nude mods for Robin and Nami. So long as Omega Force or Bandai don’t get cheeky with any additional DRM, I’m sure modders will have some spicy mods available for Pirate Warriors 4 as well.
One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 is actually a ways off from release, and we won’t be seeing it on store shelves and digital distributors until 2020. However, the good news is that you will be able to grab a copy on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PC, and Xbox One, so all the major and important platforms are covered.
We’ll have to wait – likely until the Tokyo Game Show – to get more info and details on the upcoming title.
