TurboGrafx 16 Mini Game Library Revealed, Release Date Set For March 19th, 2020

Not content to watch the big console makers release mini versions of their classic consoles, Konami announced back in June that they would be releasing a TurboGrafx 16 Mini. If you are like me then you had no idea Konami owned the TurboGrafx brand. Apparently they gained the TurboGrafx brand after absorbing Hudson Soft in 2012. So since 2012 it hasn’t just been beloved Konami franchises that have been getting screwed over.

I digress because this isn’t a Cuck Sterling “fuck Konami” rant but a news article informing you of the release date and game library for the TurboGrafx 16 Mini. This latest mini console will be available for purchase on March 19, 2020. Though, if you are an Amazon Prime member you can pre-order the TurboGrafx 16 Mini starting on Prime Day, July 15 2019.

If you are just looking to collect the TurboGrafx 16 Mini, then you should be aware that there will be three different versions. Just like the TurboGrafx 16 was known under different names in the various regions, so too will the mini version of the console. In America we will be getting the TurboGrafx 16 Mini. Japan will see a PC Engine Mini released. Europeans will be able to purchase a PC Engine Core Mini. A more ethical company might have released a mini console featuring all three names on the box to spare the wallets of consumers but Konami likes money not its customers.

Speaking of liking money and not customers, the game library of the TurboGrafx 16 Mini is missing a few key games and franchises. There are. no Splatterhouse games, despite Splatterhouse being synonymous with the TurboGrafx 16. Games like Keith Courage in Alpha Zones, Devil’s Crush, and The Legendry Axe are also absent. The most glaring omission in my opinion is not including the PC Engine version of Strider, a classic game that received new cutscenes and an additional level on PC Engine.

The TurboGrafx 16 Mini boasts it features 50 games. However, you should be aware that only 24 of the 50 games are English TurboGrafx 16 games while the other 26 are Japanese PC Engine games. Some games are also shared between the two versions, so it’s not quite 50 unique games, as reported by Gamespot. That said, the full list of 50 games for this mini console are as follows, the repeat names starred for your convenience.
