Later Alligator, Quirky Animated Mystery Game Lands On Steam September 5th

SmallBu Animation Studio and Pillow Fight’s Later Alligator is an animated indie game that combines point-and-click adventuring with multiple mini-games, all wrapped up in a quirky mystery title that involves unraveling a criminal conspiracy.

Later Alligator is set in the Alligator New York City, where Pat the alligator is tasked with bringing down the biggest crime syndicate in the city. The only problem is that the family that runs the syndicate… is his own.

You’ll have to venture around the city, interacting with 100 different alligators, and completing more than 25 different mini-games in order to figure what kind of detriment lay at the heart of the mystery and how it will ultimately affect Pat the alligator.

The trailer clocks in at two and a half minutes, and basically doesn’t tell you a thing about the story, but it does wrap itself up quite heavily within the game’s impressive animation scope and design. Check it out below.

The trailer focuses on the way the dialogue system is setup, and some of the locations you’ll visit, as well as a handful of the mini-games you’ll participate in, some of which includes jigsaw puzzles, swatting flies away from a guru, and even playing an old pinball game in a dirty arcade.

While the alligator designs are fairly basic and off-kilter, the gray-scale palette and unique camera perspectives help give the game a somewhat classic noir look, almost like an Orson Welles flick. I’m curious if they’ll release a behind-the-scenes developer documentary at some point leading up to or just after release? It would be interesting to see how they developed the game.

Later Alligator will feature multiple endings based on who you interact with and how you complete certain tasks throughout the game. You can look for this unique new indie title to drop on on the Steam store starting September 5th, 2019. You can learn more or wishlist the game by visiting the Steam store page.
