Folks who love the sounds of war, the option of choice, and the ye’ ole times of the medieval likely marveled at Mount and Blade. Couple all of that with the game’s bevy amount of mods, and you could sink many hours into the open-world RPG. Well, 11 years have passed, and folks will finally be able to play the second iteration known as Mount And Blade 2: Bannerlord via Steam Early Access come March 2020.
Despite there being expansions released leading up to the second installment — with Mount and Blade: Warband released in March 2010, and a spin-off stand-alone expansion billed as Mount and Blade: With Fire and Sword released in 2011 — many gamers want what is coming Q1 2020.
Well, it seems as if publisher and developer TaleWorlds Entertainment has heard the call for the second game to be playable and will release the Early Access version on PC via Steam early next year.
Thanks to the following trailer that released during Gamescom 2019, fans waiting over a decade for this will be able to soon go hands-on with all things Mount and Blade and medieval in the foreseeable future:
“The horns sound, the ravens gather. An empire is torn by civil war. Beyond its borders, new kingdoms rise. Gird on your sword, don your armour, summon your followers and ride forth to win glory on the battlefields of Calradia. Establish your hegemony and create a new world out of the ashes of the old.”
Although the forthcoming game, Mount and Blade, is using a new in-house engine, the game will still boast mod support, crafting, the sandbox economy that spruces things up, diplomacy, and of course all-out war.
Lastly, will Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord stay on Steam or will it become an Epic Games Store timed exclusive? While we wait to find out, more info sits on Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord’s Steam page and taleworlds.com.
