Need For Speed: Heat Will Have No Microtransactions, Rumored To Have Female Protagonist

As expected, Electronic Arts and Ghost Games have released the teaser trailer for Need for Speed: Heat today. Official mods have come forth with factual details on the game while rumors are floating around the net stating that the racing game is woke.

With the reveal trailer out and official EA mods running around and offering info on Heat, let’s start with the facts and then work into the rumors.

The Facts

Over on Need for Speed’s official sub-reddit, mod F8RGE came on to note that Heat will explore a rivalry between the cops (led by Lt. Mercer) and the racers. All of this takes place in Palm City and will have missions that you can take up either in day or night time.

According to the mod, it’s best to build up your bank balance during the day, but at night that’s when your REP will be on the line — although if you take risks under the stary sky, you’ll earn mad rewards.

When asked whether there will be microtransactions or surprise mechanics, F8RGE says there will be none of those things as well as Speed Cards. However, paid DLC and time-saver packs will pop up post-launch:

“There are no Lootboxes in NFS Heat and there won’t be.

We plan to have post launch paid-DLC in the form of car packs. Later this year we’ll introduce a time-save pack, which will show all collectables on the map.

That’s it”

And the last thing on the factual side is the following description and reveal trailer:

“Hustle by day and risk it all at night in Need for Speed™ Heat, a thrilling race experience that pits you against a city’s rogue police force as you battle your way into street racing’s elite. Launching November 5 on Origin Access Premier/Play First Trial and November 8 Worldwide.”

F8RGE says Gamescom 2019: Opening Night Live will bring additional info and gameplay footage of Heat. And lastly, the racing title will hit PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 8th, 2019.

The Rumors

As for rumors, website gamevicio.com claims it has leaked info on Heat, which went up a day before the above listing. The following info includes a female protagonist, no microtransactions (as confirmed above), and vehicle damage.

Here is a small list of other things rumored to be in Heat, which seemingly links up with F8RGE’s info:

  • Open world Game
  • Not always online
  • Speed Cards, microtransaction, and tuning cards have been removed
  • Rain is confirmed
  • Police Escape: Classic Need for Speed style. Cops will be back in the open world. There will be helicopters and everything
  • Damage bars are back, so your car could end up being destroyed if you hit it too much
  • Gas Stations That Fix Your Car Are Back
  • Speed lists will be back
  • The Protagonist is a woman, former runner, now a Police Fugitive
  • +18 Game

As always, time will tell what will go down, but if any of the above holds any weight like it did with Need for Speed: Payback, the game could be a woke mess.
