With the success of the first Nioh which is available to pick up on PC and PS4, it was only a matter of time that Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja would work together again to ship out a second iteration. As of now, Nioh 2 will be at the Tokyo Game Show 2019 event along with a “special” consumer demo.
Back in May of this year, Team Ninja sent out a tweet stating that some PS4 users were invited to take part in the Nioh 2 closed alpha test to help gather feedback. According to a new blog post on blog.us.playstation.com, we learn the following:
“[…] Over 50,000 players took part in this closed demo worldwide and nearly 18,000 participants responded to our survey afterwards!
The overwhelming majority of opinions were very positive and supportive of the demo as we received tons of comments and constructive feedback for us to analyse. And since then, we have been hard at work to process all of that data and make the necessary adjustments to create an even more exceptional experience. Thanks again to everyone who participated in the alpha demo survey. We can’t wait to share the progress with you guys!”
It’s unclear what fan feedback made it into the current development build of Nioh 2, but what’s certain is that your participation in the May alpha test session has helped out.
While we wait to find out exactly how the game pans out at launch, the writer of the blog post notes that fans will get to see a “consumer demo” for the second installment during Tokyo Game Show 2019:
“[…] We will be showing off a brand new consumer demo at the Tokyo Game Show 2019 in September. I can’t really disclose the specifics at this point, but more details will definitely be coming down the pipe soon. So stay tuned Yokai hunters! And prepare to unleash your darkness as Nioh 2 is on the horizon!”
In addition to the above, more details on Nioh 2 will be waiting for folks at the Japanese games event, which should sate any eager fan’s thirst.
Lastly, the blog post has screenshots up that show off Nure-Onna (enemy in the header image), which is a yōkai that comes front-loaded with a pair as dangerous as her eyes. The Nure-Onna preys on those who come in contact with the beam from her eyes, rendering the victim paralyzed. Nioh 2 is in development for PS4 and has no release date as of this writing.
