It’s been said before but it needs saying again: gamers have no allies. The Left want games censored where they feature any sort of sexy women or fan-service content, and the Right want games censored where violence and gore is concerned. Both sides hate gamers. Gamers have no allies.
That above sentiment was made ever-so-clear in a recent speech delivered by President Trump in the wake of the Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas shootings that took place over the weekend, where he blamed mental illness and violent video games for the shootings. He stated that federal agencies would be working with social media to curb shootings before they occur and that some kind of regulation needs to be enacted against violent video games.

President Trump spends majority of the clip talking about preventing shootings from happening, but then goes on to target violent video games…
“We need real bipartisan solutions, we have to do that, in a bipartisan manner that will truly make America safer and better for all. First we must do a better job of identifying and acting on early warning signs.
“I am directing the Department of Justice to work in partnership with local, state and federal agencies, as well as social media companies to develop tools that can detect mass shooters before they strike.
“As an example, the monster in the Parkland High School in Florida had many red flags against him yet nobody took decisive action. Nobody did anything. Why not?
“Second, we must stop the glorification of violence in our society, this includes the gruesome and grisly video games that are now commonplace. It is too easy today for troubled youth to surround themselves with a culture that celebrates violence. We must stop or substantially reduce this and it has to begin immediately.”
You can view the full speech over on the C-Span YouTube channel, where Trump essentially seemed to promote the kind of preventative methods for thoughtcrime exercised by Chairman Xi Jingping in mainland China, whose party utilizes facial recognition and a social credit system to spot and penalize potential criminals before they do anything.
The speech is laced with pro-censorship talk, especially about cracking down on potential terrorist before they strike and monitoring social media and acting before anything is done. This isn’t even the first time that Trump has called for video game regulation. Last year during the Parkland shooting media frenzy, he also called for “terror ratings” to be added to video games, while other Republicans vouched for censorship and increased taxation on violent games.
This seems to tie-in with the same sort of censorship we’ve seen applied following the Christchurch shooting, with various countries vowing to curb “hate speech” and “hateful content” online by signing the Christchurch Call, which basically means any kind of content that goes against their authoritarian ideology can be labeled as “hateful” and taken offline.
A lot of Left-wing pundits will champion the burgeoning censorship methods as a means of control, but eventually it’s going to affect them in ways they can’t imagine soon after it restricts and penalizes the people they don’t like. We’re already seeing that play out now with YouTube’s censorship, which is effectively erasing historical records in order to rewrite history.
In fact, the narrative by Trump and others is that the shooter from Dayton was a white supremacist, but actual evidence shows he was an anti-Right, Communist.
4chan also did a deep dive on his social media profiles before the agencies scrubbed them from the net, and it did indeed reveal that he was using the typical Left-wing language that is oftentimes found in Antifa circles.
Basically, what we’re seeing is a media propaganda campaign unraveling in real-time, as both the Left and the Right make moves to censor the internet, take away your games, and restrict your freedoms.
At this point it really does seem like the propagandists want people to rebel via revolution, because they’re incessantly poking the bear and looking for a reaction.
