Control Falls Off The UK Charts While NBA 2K20 Takes Top Spot

It should come in as no surprise that Remedy and 505 Games’ Control would fall off the UK charts like a fledgling bird attempting to leave its nest. The newly released game didn’t even snag top spot when it first released, falling from 4th to 14th place. However, a more controversial game by 2K and Visual Concepts, NBA 2K20, managed to grab the number one spot.

The following numbers that reveal the positions of each entry on the UK charts for September 1st, 2019, show a rather sad state of affairs. With Astral Chain being the only decent and new title out of the bunch, the chart either shows old games or lackluster titles:

  1. Astral Chain
  2. Wreckfest
  3. The Dark Pictures: Man Of Medan
  4. Control
  5. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  6. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled
  7. Super Mario Maker 2
  8. Marvel’s Spider-Man
  9. Grand Theft Auto V
  10. Tom Clancy’s The Division 2

Despite Control hanging on to the fourth spot during a time where there is virtually no competition, a week later (September 7th) Remedy and 505 Games’ latest third-person shooter has fallen off completely.

Astral Chain reportedly dropped 73% in sales a week later and went from top of the crop to 11th place. Control took a nosedive by dipping 76% in sales from 4th place to 14th place:

  1. NBA 2K20
  2. Spyro Reignited Trilogy
  3. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan
  4. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
  5. Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled
  6. Marvel’s Spider-Man
  7. Super Mario Maker 2
  8. FIFA 19
  9. Catherine: Full Body
  10. Wreckfest

Taking a peek at the Japanese (console) charts as of September 1st, we can see Control didn’t even make it on there. The dominator in this scenario happens to be Azur Lane: Crosswave:

  1. Azur Lane: Crosswave
  2. Astral Chain
  3. Super Mario Maker 2
  4. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  5. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  6. Tsuri Spirits: Nintendo Switch Version
  7. Minecraft
  8. Fire Emblem: Three Houses
  9. Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!/Let’s Go, Eevee!
  10. Super Mario Party

It’s worth noting that the U.S. charts or NPD Group haven’t updated their statistics yet. In other words, entries from July still appear upon searching. This means time will tell whether or not Control is doing better in the States than over the Atlantic or Pacific oceans.
