Naughty Dog teased a few days back that they would show off The Last of Us: Part 2 at a media event on September 24th. However, Sony also announced that they would hold the latest State of Play on the same day as this media event, and fast forward to said day and we now see an old Joel helping Ellie get revenge for her lost lesbian.
The new trailer starts with Ellie’s girlfriend bringing up the degeneracy from the previous trailer, making sure that people know that Ellie prefers her own sex when it comes to sex.
Later, we see Ellie, and her lover going on a skirmish and the two get split from each other. From the sounds of it, the cult and clickers will be the antagonist in this game, but it looks like the former has either killed or captured Ellie’s lover after the skirmish went wrong with the clickers.
After some time passes, Tommy visits Ellie and after what looks to be a long talk turns into Ellie gearing up to go hunt, and kill every single one of the cult members.
What looks to be a botched run leads Ellie out in a grassy field with Joel attempting to help her eviscerate this “powerful” cult.
Anywho, you can check out the newly posted trailer below that made its appearance at this month’s State of Play, which clocks in at three minutes in run time:
Something worth noting is that The Last of Us: Part 2 will release next year. Yes, this State of Play acted as a reveal for the second iteration’s release date, which is February 21st, 2020.
I’m sure Naughty Dog is going to find a way to kill off Joel in some way, but we’ll see. In the meantime, The Last of Us: Part 2 is due to launch on February 21st, 2020, across two Blu-ray discs.
