Gamers have been clamoring for an English language version of Azure Flame Studio and CE-Asia’s alternate history strategy-RPG, Banner of the Maid. The game’s spectacular art and compelling narrative earned it a strong following of fans even without English-language support. However, the developers have listened to the feedback and decided to undertake the localization process for the title, and now that hard work has paid off with an English language translation that’s currently in beta testing.
On October 24th, 2019, Azure Flame Studio announced via the Steam forums that you can participate in the open beta test for the English translation of Banner of the Maid right now by opting into the game’s test branch.
As explained in the forums…
“As you can see, we are just a small indie developer, so we couldn’t find an outsourcing localization company that’s both reliable and affordable (for us). So eventually we had to do the English localization by ourselves and it took a few weeks longer for us to finish it than we had expected.
“Anyway, despite all the delay, it’s officially done now! Yay! Before we are to formally push the English localization to public, we’d like to take a week or two to check it on the test branch and hear from you guys (who had already purchased the game and happen to be an native English-speaking player), and make adjustments according to your feedback/suggestions.”
If you own a copy of the game and want to test out the English translation, right click on the game in your library, choose “Properties”, click on the “Betas” tab, and then insert the code: Bannerenloctest
This will activate the beta branch for the English language translation of the game.
You can now select the “ENLOCTEST” beta branch from the beta pull-down menu in the “Betas” tab when you click on “Properties”.
Once the game updates to the latest beta branch, you should be able to play Banner of the Maid in English for the very first time.
If you don’t already own a copy of the turn-based strategy game, you can pick up a digital copy from over on the Steam store for just $16.99.
There’s no due date on when the English language translation update will be available publicly, but it’s coming soon.
