Lonely Mountains: Downhill Launches October 23rd On PS4, Xbox One, Steam

One of the more original extreme sports titles from indie developer Megagon Industries and publisher Thunderful Publishing is Lonely Mountains: Downhill. This isn’t so much a throwback game as it is an original take on the downhill mountain biking simulator.

Megagon announced that Lonely Mountains: Downhill is prepping for release on October 23rd, 2019 at the end of the month for $19.99. The game will be available in Europe for €19.99 and in the U.K., for £17.99.

You’ll be able to grab the title from the digital storefronts for the PS4, Xbox One, and on Steam for PC. Xbox One gamers will also gain access to the title as a day-one entry on the Xbox Game Pass.

The developers are also working on a Nintendo Switch version of the game, but it’s going to require a little extra tender, love and care and won’t be launching with the other platforms. They also mentioned that they would reveal the release date for the Switch version later.

As for the game… I mentioned that it has an original take on the downhill mountain biking simulation genre, and you can see exactly how with the launch trailer below.

As you can see, the game is heavily based around dynamic physics and adjusting the bike to the topography of the landscape.

The hook is that as you pull off stunts, weave around turns, and make daring leaps across deadly chasms, you’ll also have to watch out for jagged rocks, trees, slopes, pits, and other obstructions and obstacles that could pose a serious threat to your rider’s health.

If you’re thinking this is like Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX, it’s really not. The game is like a cross between Trials and Guts and Glory.

Hopefully it controls as smoothly as it’s portrayed in the video above, because it would be a real shame if it suffered from fidgety mechanics or input lag.

In any case, if you wanted to wishlist the game on PC you can do so by visiting the Steam store.
