Report Claims Ghost Recon: Breakpoint Is Already On Sale At Major Retailers

If a game is discounted heavily during launch week in 2019, then the chances of it selling well are low. Electronic Arts and BioWare’s Anthem faced heavy discounts early this year, and Remedy and 505 Games’ Control also went the way of early launch discounts. Well, according to a new report, Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is on sale at major retailers within its launch week too.

Websites like mydealz.de and Amazon reveal a sad story for the third-person shooter that is Breakpoint. Although the NPD Group predicts Breakpoint being one of 2019’s best-selling titles, the opposite might happen moving forward.

If you don’t remember when Anthem ended up on the abovementioned sites, EA later announced its preliminary financial results for its fourth fiscal quarter and fiscal year ended March 31st, 2019, where Anthem failed to meet EA’s magical number of selling 6 million units within six months.

In addition to the above, Remedy and 505 Games’ Control hit the two websites featured above, and did not even make it in the top five U.S. games chart at launch according to social justice activist and NPD Group analyst Mat Piscatella:

Although all of that happened in September of this year respectively, the latest case as of October 6th, 2019, sees website GameRant reporting that Breakpoint is treading the same course as Anthem and Control:

“[…] The standard edition of Ghost Recon Breakpoint is currently on sale across major retailers. The game is currently available for $49.94 on Amazon and Walmart and $49.99 on Best Buy, which is around $10 cheaper than its original list price of $59.99.”

Something worth noting is that GameRant did make mention of the NPD Group predicting Breakpoint “will be one of 2019’s best-selling titles.” However, we’ll see if the game can recover sales-wise or if it will continue down the discount path.

Lastly, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A Stadia version is also said to be in development.
