The Outer Worlds Xbox File Size Calls For 36GB Of Free Space, PC Specs Still Pending

The Epic Games Store timed exclusive, The Outer Worlds, is relatively small on Xbox One compared to recent games gearing up to hit PC and home consoles. Although the PC requirements are still a mystery (same as PS4) at this point, console folks will only need 36.78GB of free space to install Private Division and Obsidian Entertainment’s RPG.

The Outer Worlds is due out later this month on October 25th, 2019. In other words, the role-playing game in question is two weeks out from hitting store shelves and the digital scene.

On average, most games have their PC specs up alongside console specs, but in this case, the Epic Games Store is failing as per usual and reveals nothing.

The choice-based RPG that sees your actions determining the fate of everyone within Halcyon may not be 36GB across the board, given that Red Dead Redemption 2 for consoles without updates is much smaller than the forthcoming PC version — and between PS4 and Xbox One, there are slight differences with the vanilla versions in size.

In addition to the above, we also have cases like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that is 141GB on Xbox One and 175GB on PC, which means The Epic Games Store timed exclusive could ask for a whopping amount of space or something close to its console counterparts.

Personally, I would have thought that this game would demand more space in current year, where diversity hires can’t program or compress if their lives depended on it. However, we still don’t know how much RAM is called for, what kind of graphics card is needed, or what OS the RPG in question needs to run the EGS timed exclusive.

While we wait for the PC specs to surface, Obsidian Entertainment is hoping to bring the action-adventure role-playing game to PC, PS4, and Xbox One this October with a Switch version planned to release later.
