The UK Physical Charts See FIFA 20 At Top Spot

The UK physical charts see the notorious FIFA 20 from the controversial Electronic Arts at the top spot. Despite past entries of FIFA games and their Ultimate Team making headlines for all the wrong reasons, another company that’s not a stranger to controversy takes second place with Borderlands 3.

Third place on the UK physical charts is Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening — behind FIFA 20 and Borderlands 3, respectively.

Website gamesindustry.biz lists the top ten games on the UK physical charts, which consists of EA’s FIFA 20 at the top spot, 2K’s Borderlands 3 right behind FIFA 20, Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening at spot three, Microsoft’s Gears 5 at four, 2K’s NBA 2K20 at five, Nintendo’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at sixth place, Bandai Namco’s The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan at seventh, Activision’s Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled at the number eight spot, Konami’s PES 2020 at number nine, and THQ Nordic’s Wreckfest in last place:

  1. FIFA 20
  2. Borderlands 3
  3. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
  4. Gears 5
  5. NBA 2K20
  6. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  7. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan
  8. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled
  9. PES 2020
  10. Wreckfest

Games Industry notes that Physical sales for EA’s FIFA 20 are down 7% compared to FIFA 19’s sales during its first month. In other words, EA couldn’t care less if physical sales are down for its sports title so long as microtransactions are selling.

As for Borderlands 3, the game snagging second place is reported to have “shifted 48.3% fewer copies” during its first month on shelves than Borderlands 2 did way back in September 2012.

And as for the third spot, which is Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, it has surpassed the record set by Ocarina of Time 3D — a game that came out way back in 2011.

Lastly, the website in question released the list of best-selling games for each platform. You can check out what games topped the UK physical charts for PC, PS4, and Xbox One from August 25th to September 28th, 2019:

  • PS4 — FIFA 20
  • Xbox One — FIFA 20
  • Switch — The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
  • PC — Borderlands 3
