Tokyo Ghoul: re Call To Exist Reveals Playable Characters And Boss Fights

Bandai Namco dropped a brand new trailer for the upcoming action game, Toyo Ghoul: re Call To Exist. The game is scheduled to drop this fall for PC and PS4 on November 15th, 2019, and so the trailer helps familiarize gamers with the playable characters and the gameplay setting.

The trailer is no holds barred and just gets straight into the action. We follow Ken Kaneki as he battles robed opponents with combos, tentacle attacks and special moves.

Barely 20 seconds into the trailer and we get a look at Shu Tsukiyama, utilizing his purple twister to blend enemies into a bloody pulp.

You can check out the minute and a half long gameplay trailer below.

After Shu gets the spotlight, we then get a look at Nishiki Nishio, who utilizes his spectral tail to whip and grab enemies, while Touka Kirishima uses fiery blasts to clear out rooms and take down armored riot police.

We see Naki taking on an investigator who is equipped with a quinque. We also see Ayato Kirishima also facing off against a ghoul investigator, performing some impressive maneuvers, including a beautiful reverse whip kick.

We also see Owl making use of some long range projectile attacks to wipe out enemies.

A few bosses are on display, including the scantily clad Nutcracker, and the room-morphing Noro. Shachi also makes an appearance along with Kanae.

The gameplay looks very similar to other Bandai Namco hack-and-slash titles. It reminds me of the Sword Art Online games or the One Piece titles. It’s certainly a lot broader and bigger than the Naruto or Dragon Ball games when it comes to combat, you’re facing off against a lot more than just two or three other opponents, but not nearly as many as Koei Tecmo’s thousand-army titles.

For the most part I would say that Tokyo Ghoul: re Call To Exist looks like a solid AA-style offering. It’s visually competent, the frame-rate looks stable, and there appears to be a wide variety of characters to play and stages to beat.

Whether or not it will be a quality game will depend on how bug-free and solid the launch is. We’ll find out when Tokyo Ghoul: Re Call To Exist launches on November 15th, 2019 for the PS4 and on Steam for PC.
