Fig Reportedly Honors Wasteland 3 Refund

Some gamers, backers, and enthusiasts weren’t entirely pleased with what they saw (and heard) for Wasteland 3 coming out of Microsoft’s X019 event. What was the issue? Well, the group that originally seemed to be composed of patriotic, straight white Christians trying to save the world were recently depicted as the main villains. The trailer was accompanied by a song that made it known how terrible men were, and pretty much seemed to regurgitate, subversively, a lot of the same talking points we see echoed by media outlets across social media.

A few gamers, being made aware of this, decided to make the conscious decision not to support the crowdfunded title anymore, even though it was already crowdfunded on Fig back in fall of 2016. You can check out the trailer for yourself below.

One gamer in particular reached out to Fig for a refund and informed us that it went through, saying via e-mail…

“Looks like fig (the crowfunding site for Wasteland 3) is good. I messaged them asking for a refund, and I actually said “because i’m sick of manhating woke bullshit” and today, a few days later they refunded.”

They had originally reached out to us about getting the refund after reading the article and seeing the trailer, and said they would keep us informed on the progress of the refund. After a few days, they managed to confirm that the refund process was honored by Fig.

The game did accrue more than $3.1 million in crowdfunding three years ago, but that doesn’t mean they’ll happily ore readily issue refunds now. Just because one person managed to get a refund doesn’t mean everyone will.

A similar thing happened with Shenmue 3, where some users wanted refunds after finding out that the PC version keys would be for the Epic Games Store instead of Steam. There was a huge kerfuffle over users requesting refunds for the game, and a somewhat complex survey system setup in order to retrieve said refunds.
