Langrisser 1 And 2 Set To Release March, 2020 For PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC

NIS America and Chara-Ani have announced that the original Langrisser and Langrisser II will be making their way to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and on Steam for PC starting in March of 2020.

RPGSite spotted the news, which revealed that there will be scattered release across the U.S,. Europe, and Japan.

The game will launch first in North America on March 10th, and then a few days later in Europe on March 13th, and then a week later in Australia and New Zealand on March 20th. The hook for the re-release is that NISA has remastered a lot of the artwork and added full voiceovers to the game, as depicted in the trailer below.

In some ways it seems more like a remake than a remaster since they add voices to the game, which wasn’t there before, and they completely redid all of the artwork, including the character portraits during the dialogue sequences, and all of the battle units and battle animations.

The overworld map has been overhauled, and the general aesthetics have all been retouched with HD assets.

If you enjoyed the classic Langrisser titles from the 16-bit era and wanted to rekindle that experience in HD, either playing on a large screen television or in handheld mode on the Nintendo Switch, you’ll be able to do so come March, 2020.

The only thing that I’m a little leery about is whether or not the classic NISA touch will have touched this outing. The company has been on a roll lately when it comes to screwing up something or another with almost every major release. If they manage to get the compilation pack of Langrisser I and II out without any hiccups or problems, then it might just deserve a slow clap that swells into a standing ovation. But we’ll gauge the quality of the wood when it’s time to cross that bridge.
