Bayonetta 3’s Development Is Still Going Well, Says Hideki Kamiya

Do you like the Switch? Do you also like Bayonetta? If so, it looks like PlatinumGames is still working hard on the third installment, and according to Hideki Kamiya, development is going well. In other words, the game isn’t dead or stuck in development hell.

For those of you out there concerned that Bayonetta 3 isn’t doing too well under the hood, there’s no need to worry as of now. Kamiya, via Twitter, points to the game’s development being on track as per nintendoeverything.com.

Anyway, you can read the translation the publication site has up between Kamiya and the fan right here:

“PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya did recently provide a small update. When one fan asked when we’ll hear something about Bayonetta 3, Kamiya responded: “Development’s going really well. There you go.””

I know the game in question hasn’t had that much info on it ever since its reveal, which might indicate the devs are working on something noteworthy instead of a true disappointment.

In addition to the above, way back on May 2nd, 2019, studio head Atsushi Inaba told website videogameschronicle.com that Bayonetta 3 “design process” will see a change based on PlatinumGames’ experience on “developing Bayonetta 1 and 2.”

This means that Bayonetta 3 will follow a new pipeline or development structure unlike its predecessors (Bayonetta 1 and 2), hence the radio silence that we’ve been picking up as of late.

As a matter of fact, Inaba told videogameschronicle.com a month later the following regarding Bayonetta 3′s development:

“Games aren’t usually done in a year or two… it takes a while. That’s all. Things are going well and I know a lot of people are asking for it.

Giving updates for everything at E3 isn’t the smartest PR strategy to begin with so just because we’re not showing it here doesn’t mean it’s not going well.”

The website also asked if the silence is indicative of the studio’s ambitions for the title to which Inaba replied:

“Yes, it’s going to be a high quality title and we’re putting our all into it. That is what you’re seeing [with the silence].”

So what can we take away from all of this? Well, development on Bayonetta 3 is going well as we speak, and it will be a high-quality game.

Hopefully, we’ll hear more about the Switch exclusive that is Bayonetta 3 sometime in 2020.
