Sons Of The Forest, First-Person Survival Game Announced

Endnight Games’ The Forest spent a good deal of time in Early Access before finally graduating in May of 2018. The game told the story of an airliner that crashed on a mysterious island where experiments were taking place that turned the inhabitants into monsters. Players were tasked with surviving the wilderness, avoiding the monsters, and finding a way to escape the island. Well, the sequel sees a team returning to the island where they face off against a new breed of ravenous foes roaming the forest, including a multi-arm naked chick who dances sexily.

The game was announced during this year’s Game Awards, hosted by Geoff Keighley. The trailer showcased a few cinematics and a small smattering of gameplay. You can check out the announcement trailer for the game below courtesy of GamersPrey.

The story seems to pick up after the events of the first title, where the dad who survived the original massacre on the island returned to America with his son, only to find that his son was infected.

It’s hard to tell if the character in the opening of the trailer is the main character’s son, since he has “Fight Demons” tattooed on his arm, which could mean that his dad didn’t kill him at the end of the original The Forest but perhaps he’s fighting the infection?

In any case, the game is still a first-person survival experience, only this time around the plot seems to be lifted directly from The Lost World: Jurassic Park II.

They didn’t announce what platforms the game would be available on but it’s pretty much guaranteed PC is on the slate. I am curious if Sony or Microsoft managed to secure some timed exclusivity rights to the game for either the PS5 or the Xbox Series X?

I suppose we’ll find out closer to the game’s release.
