According to Teyon Entertainment, the reason Terminator: Resistance released with censored sex scenes was due to the platform holders, specifically Microsoft and Sony. This was revealed in a tweet reply that Teyon made to a gamer who was eager to find out exactly why the game had some of its more risque content censored in an ‘M’ rated title that was already regulated for sexual content.
For those of you who don’t know, it was discovered that there were uncensored sex scenes that were supposed to be in Terminator: Resistance, the recent first-person shooter from Teyon and Reef Entertainment. Modders figured out how to put something together to work around the censorship so gamers could access the uncensored sex scenes involving Jennifer and Baron.
Not satisfied with having to use mods to access the scenes – and being peeved that PS4 and Xbox One gamers were left out of the loop – some gamers took to Twitter to ask Teyon directly about the censorship, and they replied on December 3rd, 2019 with the following response.
We were forced by Sony and Microsoft 😉

As noted in the thread, some gamers asked why the PC version had to be censored alongside the PS4 and Xbox One version of the game? Or why didn’t they at least leave an option in for PC gamers to access the uncensored sex scenes instead of having to create a workaround? But Teyon opted not to further delve into the situation or place any further blame on the obvious culprits for the censorship present in Terminator: Resistance.
Ah… so that’s the real answer ..
Well …I understand . But you could have made as optional for PC version at least ? Have you thought of that before ?
Metro Last light(other game) romance scene had nudity and wasn’t censored that time. (Know that game ?)

While Sony gets a lot of grief for having Censorship Policies in place for the PS4, don’t forget that when the Wall Street Journal pressed Microsoft for a response about whether they would also adopt similar policies, they had no comment.
It’s also funny because Life is Strange 2: Episode 3 had an underage, uncensored sex scene that showed boobs and butt, yet Dontnod Entertainment was able to get away with it. Maybe because in the same episode there was also a choice to have gay sex? But I digress.
On the bright side, PC gamers can utilize the workaround to get over the censorship barrier. On the downside, Xbox One and PS4 gamers are stuck with a gimped version of Terminator: Resistance.
Worse yet is that the ESRB already rated the game for containing sexual content, yet it still had to be censored.
This is just more hypocrisy on display, as we see another ‘M’ rated game allowed to show all kinds of unbridled gore and violence, but the sex and nudity had to be thoroughly censored.
