Rugby 20 Now Available For PS4, PC, Xbox One

Bigben Interactive and Eko Software announced that Rugby 20 is currently available for the Xbox One, PS4 and on Steam for PC. The highly anticipated niche sports title covers an area of physical contact athleticism that other publishers have ripely ignored.

As mentioned in previous articles, Rugby 20 attempts to capture the modern day era of the sport with both simulation based tackles and player-movement, along with the more strategic elements that come from team-play and coaching tactics.

You can get an idea of what the gameplay is like with the launch trailer below.

One of the highlights that Eko Software and Bigben have been pitching hard is the set-play system, where you, the gamer, are allowed to control and customize the kind of plays that you execute on the pitch.

You can modify your plays for both defensive and offensive maneuvers, as well as alter the plays on the fly to suit the style of your opponent, and hopefully tip them off their game. You’ll have access to passes, tosses, side-steps, grubber kicks and tackling, all available via a roster of 60 officially licensed teams from the Top 14, Pro D2, Pro 14, and the Premiership league.

You can play either solo in the career more or competitively in both the local or online multiplayer mode.

The game is boasting enhanced visuals, upgraded AI systems, updated rosters, and more playability than any previous entry in the series.

Visually the game won’t be winning any awards. It looks like a late 360 or PS3 title as far as assets and lighting is concerned. The actual player movements are passably decent, based on what’s visible in the trailer above, but I do have to admit that the set-play system looks fairly in-depth and like you could pull off some serious tactical maneuvers while attempting to control the pitch. So they do have that going for them.

For more info you can check out the official Rugby 20 website, or pick up a copy from participating retailers or digitally from the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, or Steam.
