Utawarerumono: Mask Of Deception And Mask Of Truth Heads To Steam January 23rd, 2020

DMM Games and ShiraVN announced that two of Aquaplus’ Utawarerumono will be landing on Steam starting January 23rd, 2020. We initially made gamers aware of this via the upcoming games release list, but for everyone who doesn’t check the list, we wanted to make sure that they were at least informed that the games will be made available on Steam later in the month.

RPG Site did a quick news post about the titles being made available, and dropped a lot of knowledge in a short amount of time, including that in addition to Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth releasing on PC, there are plans to port Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen on on PC as well.

Mask of Deception will also release with swimsuit and samurai outfits for playable versions of Tamaki and Sasara from Aquaplus’ To Heart 2: Dungeon Travelers. You can check the DLC store pages to see what they look like, but the images are kind of small.

As revealed in the trailer, the game originally came out in Japan back in half a decade ago, but were then released in the West with English localization for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2017.

The visual novel series has made quite a mark in the niche community by combining 30 hours of story and gameplay from the traditional CG setup with tactical role-playing game mechanics.

As you can see in the trailer above, you’ll need to manage your party during combat across a number of battlefield scenarios.

So beyond just reading and enjoying the story, you’ll also get to flesh some tactical brain muscles along the way.

As noted on the Steam page, PC gamers also have access to additional keyboard and mouse controls, as well as additional graphics options.

If you manage to beat both Utawarerumono titles, Aquaplus and NIS America will have Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen made available at some point in spring of 2020 for the PlayStation Vita and PS4, which is a remake of the original 2002 outing that released in Japan two years ago.

If you’re inclined to purchase either game from Valve’s storefront, you can wishlist them ahead of release by visiting the Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception store page or by visiting the Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth store page.
