Doraemon: Nobita’s New Dinosaur Theatrical Release Postponed In Japan Due To Coronavirus

The theatrical release for the movie Doraemon: Nobita no Shinkyouryuu has been indefinitely postponed as the production studios heeded the call from the Japanese government to limit public events due to the spread of the coronavirus.

The news spread around thanks to the Anime Intelligence (and) Research account when they tweeted out the news on February 27th, 2020.

The tweet links to the official Doraeiga.com website, where there’s a news post about the cancellation of the theatrical premiere of Doraemon.
The message states…

“At this time, the scheduled March 6th, 2020 public opening of the animated film Doraemon: Nobita’s New Dinosaur and the circumstances involving the contagion and the Coronavirus Infection Countermeasures Task Force polices, has resulted in the release being postponed for now.

“For everyone looking to enjoy the movie’s opening and be amused and entertained, we offer a sincere heartfelt apology.

“From here on the release for the public opening, as soon as we decide on it, will be swiftly revealed for Doraemon: Nobita’s New Dinosaur on the official website. […]”

They go on to say that anyone who purchased advanced tickets will be able to use them for the new release date once it’s been decided.

Both the theatrical release on March 6th and the opening ceremony stage greeting that was scheduled to be held at the Roppongi Hills by TOHO Cinemas on March 7th have been cancelled due to the Coronavirus Task Force enactment.

The movie was scheduled to launch alongside the new Doraemon: Nobita’s New Dinosaur video game that is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch on March 5th, 2020 in Japan, as reported by Gematsu.
