Population Zero Set To Enter Early Access On Steam May 5th

Enplex Games announced that they have new survival MMO in the works set to appear on Steam starting May 5th, 2020 this spring. The game will see players on a planet where they only have 168 hours until they get turned into an otherworldly being by a “Sphere”. The object is to gather supplies, build up your own base and attempt to complete the mission before you get transmogrified.

The game received a new trailer recently outlining the basic premise of the gameplay, the world, and the PvP you’ll encounter, along with the customization.

It reminds me a little bit of Journey To The Savage Planet but without the humor, combined with elements of ARK: Survival Evolved.

You can check out the trailer below.

The game actually looks like it has some kind of potential.

I like the exotic atmosphere and the No Man’s Sky-esque palette. Some of the creatures look unique and the base-building and survival elements don’t seem too bad.

My only major gripe would be that the combat animations look kind of stiff and the character movements are somewhat stilted. They almost look like asset store swaps.

It would seem like a game like this would need characters that move around with a little bit more purpose, intrigue and/or danger. I mean, they will be turned into a hideous creature within 168 hours, right?

I would imagine that the character should move with a bit of urgency in their step.

Population Zero - Survival

Beyond that the game will feature seven different biomes, dozens of quests, various NPCs to interact with, and plenty of weapons.

The Early Access phase will last for quite some time, too. They’re gauging that it won’t take them any less than nine months to graduate. Within that time they have plans on implementing new modes, customization, additional biomes and regions, as well as resources and crafting material.
