Tencent’s Monster Hunter Movie Gains New Poster Showing Off Milla Jovovich And Tony Jaa

The PG-13 movie, based on Capcom’s ongoing series of action-adventure games, has a new promotional poster up showing Milla Jovovich and Tony Jaa as the main stars. That’s right, the film that is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson with Tencent Pictures overseeing distribution will hit the big screen on September 4th, 2020.

Borderlands isn’t the only game to get a movie adaptation as of late, which follows after the recently released Sonic the Hedgehog movie. No, it looks like Capcom’s Monster Hunter IP will gain one too, and as reported by collider.com, you can see Jovovich and Jaa in costume below:

If you don’t know, the adaptation will see other familiar faces appear in the movie spanning from other films and figures from the music industry. You can see the list of Monster Hunter’s cast right here:

  • Milla Jovovich — Captain Natalie Artemis
  • Tony Jaa — The Hunter
  • Clifford “T.I.” Harris, Jr. — Link
  • Ron Perlman — The Admiral
  • Diego Boneta — N/A
  • Meagan Good — N/A
  • Josh Helman — N/A
  • Jin Au-Yeung — N/A

Some of the characters and their role(s) are uncertain at this point, but what isn’t unclear is the site writing Jovovich assuming the role of “Captain Natalie Artemis,” a member of a United Nations military team.

The team falls into “a portal to an alternate world” where “hunters fight giant monsters.” From here, her team must prevent the monsters from entering the portal and heading to Earth.

The website also highlights how Jaa’s “Hunter” character must team up with Jovovich to prevent the monsters from reaching said portal.

Moreover, we also know that production companies like Screen Gems, Impact Pictures, Constantin Film, Tencent Pictures, and Toho will help out too.

Lastly, this new movie based on the colorful and bombastic world of Monster Hunter will be another video game adaptation under Anderson’s belt — from his first being 1995’s Mortal Kombat to everything in between leading up to 2016’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

As noted above, Monster Hunter is set to make its debut on the silver screen on September 4th, 2020.
