If you know what’s good for you and you’re not into gay anal sex or men dressed down to thongs, then you probably will stay far, far away from all things Netflix. The latest trailer for Altered Carbon: Resleeved, the CG-animated version of the Netflix original is filled with plenty of male nudity, but they make sure the females stay completely covered up. No boobs, no butts, no vagina bones.
The newest trailer breaks down the basic plot of the show, which centers around a bodyguard of a child tattoo artist working for a Yakuza clan. One of the under-bosses attempts a coup and the bodyguard and the child’s life are put in danger as they attempt to escape from killer ninjas with super powers.
You can check out the trailer below.
The anime is being produced by the same people behind the animated Ghost In The Shell series on Netflix, and it’s written by the creator of Cowboy Bepop.
Visually it doesn’t look like anything special. It’s more of the typical cel-shading with motion-capture work for the animations. The more over-the-top stuff features the obvious hand-animated team, but it reminds me a little bit of the Appleseed movies but with less pizzazz.
And of course, given that this is Netflix, the trailer is rife with male nudity. Lots of bare bottoms barely tucked away by the thin cloth of a fundoshi make ample appearances throughout the trailer as we see the main character and other Yakuza stripped down, their fleshy rear-ends exposed for all to see… multiple times.
In fact, the entire first half of the trailer sees the men dressed down in barely anything.
I’m sure there will be the typical Centrists™ claiming that Japanese Yakuza spend all day walking around nearly buck naked, and Netflix is just showing the realism of their culture and lifestyle.
Also cue the typical Twitter spergs who will defend the male nudity but will turn around and post on their timeline how evil the “male gaze” is and how much they enjoy it when anime tiddies get censored.
Anyway, like all things Netflix, if you don’t want to be drowned in a sea of propaganda, you know what you need to avoid.
Altered Carbon: Resleeved goes live on March 19th.
