Asphalt 9: Legends Surpasses 4 Million Downloads On Switch, Adds 14 New Cars

French outfit Gameloft announced that their modern-day racing game for the Nintendo Switch, Asphalt 9: Legends, has managed to surpass more than 4 million digital downloads for Nintendo’s little hybrid that could. In celebration of the milestone they announced that the game has been updated with a brand new track and 14 new sports cars to race.

The game originally came out five months during the fall of 2019, and it’s already managed to surpass more than 4 million downloads, which is extremely impressive for a small game on the Switch with barely any advertising.

However, it is a free-to-download game, so that helps explain the volume of the game’s digital movement.

The new update received a trailer to highlight some of the new supercars you’ll be able to race in the game.

Some of the 14 cars include the McLaren Senna, Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta, and the Mercedes GT-Class Coupe. You’ll be able to take them for a spin around the Caribbean both in single-player and multiplayer races either in four-player local split-screen or online against other players.

You can also customize each of the 60 licensed cars featured in the game, making use of body modifications, custom colors, and performance upgrades across 42 different tracks.

The game also allows users to utilize the Touchdrive controls during mobile play to avoid having to fight against the left Joy-Con’s drifting issues.

Visually the game certainly looks better than I thought it would, but I guess that’s not a difficult feat for most devs these days; making a fun game is.

Asphalt 9: Legends is already available on mobile devices and PC, but if you have a Switch and wanted to make use of the offline split-screen features you have that option.

For more info or to download the game for free, you can do so by visiting the Nintendo eShop page.
