Made In Abyss Movie Premiere Postponed Due To Coronavirus

Sentai Filmworks’ theatrical premiere of the Made In Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul movie, based on the popular eponymous manga and anime, has been postponed from its original April debut. They made the announcement via a tweet on March 24th, 2020, informing potential film-goers that they won’t be able to see this particular anime in theaters anytime soon.

The tweet links to a news post on the official Sentai Filmworks website, where they revealed that Made In Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul‘s original April release has been moved back later into 2020 due to COVID-19, also known as Mistress Corona-chan.

Her infectious embrace has been undeniably effective against all forms of media, entertainment, and industries of all kind. No one seems to be able to stave off her irresistible charms; charms of a sickly and potentially deadly nature.

John Ledford, Sentai Filmworks’ CEO, explained in the post…

“Our first priority is to ensure the safety of fans, theater staff and the broader community. After careful consideration and deliberation, we determined that it is in the best of interest of theatergoers and the public to reschedule this release. While we are disappointed by the delay, we have every intention of giving this film the theatrical release it deserves when the time is right and safety can be assured. Fans of MADE IN ABYSS should keep an eye on our social media pages and dedicated MADE IN ABYSS site for updates.”

As mentioned in the post, the highly anticipated film was supposed to premiere at Anime Boston in Massachusetts this April, but nearly every major anime convention has been cancelled due to the coronavirus.

Many anime films set to premiere in Japan have also been postponed or outright cancelled, including Fate/Stay Night: Heave’s Feel Chapter II – Spring Song, Precure Miracle Leap: A Strange Day With Everyone and Doaeramon: Nobita’s New Dinosaur, to name but a few.

Yes, even the lolis aren’t safe from Corona-chan.
