Grand Theft Auto 6 rumors and supposed leaks have abound for some time. Regardless of the veracity of each individual claim nearly all of them agree the game will take place in an expanded Vice City. Given the latest era of GTA has already revisited Liberty City and San Andreas that detail is almost assured unless Rockstar intends to take the franchise to a new location rather than reinventing an old one.
The more legitimate leaks have merely pointed that the game is in development with an announcement coming soon. Whereas leaks with little provability, as reported by GameSkinny, have gone into detail about the Narcos inspired drug empire-building jaunt through multiple decades and regions. Possibly including Brazil or another South American City.
An interesting rumor of no substance or origin cropped up over the last few weeks claiming the game will be announced today March 25. With the probability that current events would effectively cause delays combined with the unsubstantiated nature of the claim it until now was only worth noting as one of many false leaks.
– On March 25, 2020, Rockstar Games will officially announce Grand Theft Auto VI on all their social media accounts. The first trailer will drop within the next week after the announcement. Vice City, 1980’s. Apparently, there is a way to play cops in the multiplayer mode (aka GTA Online) but I couldn’t get too much on that, I’ll try to look into it further though.
That was until Respawn First discovered Rockstar had updated the Grand Theft Auto 6 domain on the 23rd. As they explained updates to websites tend to only happen just prior to official announcements.
The remainder of the domains for GTA7-8 continue to direct traffic to the official Rockstar Website. Whereas http://gtavi.com/ directs you to a page that as of this writing just says the site cannot be reached at this time. Does that mean an announcement is coming today? No. An announcement with all the hints being released is likely forthcoming, but nothing quite points to an official announcement date.
Both Sony and Microsoft have major streams upcoming for their next-generation consoles that GTA 6 could piggyback off of. Both companies have been in a heated bidding war for announcement exclusivity and Take-Two is unlikely to fail to capitalize on the two manufacturers ’ desperation. Soon we’ll know more and with luck the game won’t be a soapbox for Rockstar to signal how virtuous they are when they’re peddling addictive and exploitative monetization methods onto children.
