Final Fantasy VII Remake Tops The UK Sales Chart

The UK sales chart for the week ending April 11th, 2020, has arrived. And as per the chart, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Remake has managed to snag the top spot, being trialed by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

This week’s chart sees Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 Remake drop from second place down to seventh, after a 78% decrease in sales week-on-week.

As for Bethesda Softworks and id Software’s Doom: Eternal, it continues to drop down the charts, moving from 15th place all the way down to 20th — with a 26% sales drop.

The top three games for this week happen to be Final Fantasy VII RemakeCall of Duty: Modern Warfare, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons:

Last Week This Week Games
New 1 Final Fantasy VII Remake
1 2 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
4 3 Animal Crossing: New Horizons
3 4 FIFA 20
25 5 Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
5 6 Forza Horizon 4
2 7 Resident Evil 3 Remake
9 8 Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
8 9 Grand Theft Auto V
17 10 The Last of Us: Remastered

The above information comes from gamesindustry.biz, which also reports that the number of physical copies in the UK grew again last week by 2%.

Ever since the start of the lockdown, over one million boxed games have been sold in said region, which the number of physical games sold in the UK has been over 3% year-on-year.

Nevertheless, these “growing” numbers aren’t attributed to new games but older titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, FIFA 20, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, Forza Horizon 4, The Last of Us Remastered, and Horizon Zero Dawn.

It’ll be interesting to see how long Final Fantasy VII Remake stays at the top spot on the UK charts, as well as other charts, given that newer releases are seeing steep declines on the UK charts as well as sales.

In the meantime, Final Fantasy VII Remake is out now for PS4.
