Hellpoint Teaser Arrives With Demo Update That Improves Animations, Combat, Co-op

Cradle Games’ Hellpoint looks like an awesome game. It’s essentially a futuristic cyberpunk world invaded by Lovecraftian Eldritch horrors. You’ll have to battle through a distorted hellscape of twisted flesh and grody metal as you battle against the forces of a mind-altering dimension.

TinyBuild recently released a new teaser trailer to remind gamers that Hellpoint is launching on home consoles and PC starting at some point during the second quarter of 2020.

You can check out the short 23 second launch teaser below.

That really doesn’t give you a proper scope of what to expect from the game, but as mentioned in previous coverage, it’s a Soulsborne clone with deliberately weighty hack-and-slash combat featuring grotesque monsters in a mish-mash of hellish nightmares meets a dystopian futuristic society.

It’s interesting because a game like this very easily could have sunken into mimicking the techno-hell motif from DOOM, yet Cradle Games managed to really separate themselves by creating something both unique and truly horrifying to witness.

A better scope of what you can expect from the game is outlined in the release date trailer below.

But tinyBuild didn’t just have a 23 second trailer spot to tease, they also updated Hellpoint: The Thespian Feast, which is like a sequel demo to the events of the original game.

The update for version 291 was rolled out on April 7th, 2020, featuring a number of fixes for the combat, the animations, the hit boxes, the walk speed, and the co-op.

Everything is being smoothed over and made a lot more convenient for gamers, including quality of life improvements such as full key remapping on both keyboards and gamepads for the PC version of Hellpoint, and a visual health bar over your partner’s avatar when you’re playing co-op.

The attack and impact animations have also been improved so you get better weighted feedback on when strikes land or do a lot of damage.

You can download the Hellpoint: The Thespian Feast right now from over on the Steam store page to get an idea of how the game handles and what you can expect from the full thing.

Having the update roll out so soon before release means that they’re also tweaking the final build of the game before the second quarter release. Hopefully all of the kinks are ironed out for release day when Hellpoint arrives on PS4, Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch and on Steam for PC.
