Phil Spencer And Xbox Team Have A Plan To Win Next-Gen With Xbox Series X

It looks like Phil Spencer has a plan to win next-gen’s console battle. According to a recent interview, Spencer and the Xbox Team are working on a plan around their upcoming Q4 2020 due console’s price point, which in turn will allow them to “win next-gen.”

Next-gen is supposedly to start during the holiday season, which sits at the end of 2020. This season will birth the PS5 and Xbox Series X, where, inevitably, the two will go head-to-head vying for the attention of those that seek to own the blue or green brand’s product.

As it stands now, we may know both the specs powering the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but the general public knows more about the latter’s new tower-like design and inclusive controller. And it looks like Spencer and the Xbox Team are working around the price point of the Series X to gain extra footing over the blue brand’s next-gen console.

The above information comes from thisgengaming.com, where the publication site highlighted a segment of an interview between Spencer and IGN and shared the following information regarding the importance of building around a price point when competing:

“You have to set a price target at the beginning for yourselves and then you roll in as you see the competition and you start to do your go-to-market planning.

I feel good about the price we’re going to be able to get to. I feel good about the price and the performance capabilities that we have for Series X. I feel incredibly strong about the overall package.”

Continuing, Spencer also had this to say:

“We have a plan and we feel very solid about it. I believe we have a plan that can win [the next generation].”

Before concluding, the Xbox Series X only has one “exclusive” game announced as of now, which is Halo: Infinite. However, that game is also coming to PC and older Xbox consoles — like the 2013 Xbox One and the newer Xbox One S and X.

It will be interesting to see how the Xbox Series X pans out after launch since first-party content won’t come out until the next two years and will be accessible on PC.

While we wait to find out, the Xbox Series X will make its debut sometime in Q4 2020.
