Operation: Harsh Doorstep, Tactical Free-To-Play With Mod Support Coming Soon To Early Access

Drakeling Labs and Microprose Software are working on two new first-person shooter projects, Warfare 1944 and Operation: Harsh Doorstep. The first game is currently in development and alpha testing. You can buy into it right now leading up to its release into Early Access on Steam. Operation: Harsh Doorstep, however, is on a slightly different path, as it will be free-to-play when it releases, but you can buy into alpha right now by supporting the developers on Patreon.

The big difference between Warfare 1944 and Operation: Harsh Doorstep is that the former’s base game is set during World War Ii and utilizes lo-fi graphics to convey its art-style. The latter is set during a fictional conflict in Afghanistan, 1991, between Soviet forces and NATO. They plan on adding additional scenarios from the past, present, and future, along with operable vehicles and mod support.

Operation: Harsh Doorstep is also, visually, leagues above what Drakeling Labs is doing with Warfare 1944. Basically one is going to be a mod-centric FPS built around community support while the other appears to be more serious and grounded in realism.

You can check out the gameplay trailer below to get an idea of what Operation: Harsh Doorstep will be like in action.

The game is actually built in collaboration with YouTuber BlueDrake42, who disappeared from producing content to work with the developers and Microprose on the new shooters.

The games aren’t reinventing the wheel, but they are designed around putting fun and the community first, two things that have become absolute unicorns in today’s politically-charged development industry.

He posted an hour long video talking about his departure from creating content and his return to form with Warfare 944 and Operation: Harsh Doorstep, which you can check out below.

I’m getting some Operation Flashpoint vibes from Operation: Harsh Doorstep, so hopefully they can cash in on that and make something that stands out enough to be worth investing in as a gamer.

Right now Operation: Harsh Doorstep still isn’t available but it will be coming soon to Steam Early Access. You can follow the development or wishlist the game right now by visiting the Steam store page.
