The End Of The Sun, Time-Traveling Slavic Adventure Title Heads To Kickstarter

An independent development outfit from out of Krakow, Poland is currently working on a time-traveling adventure game moving into the final phases of development. The name of the game is called The End of the Sun and it’s a mix of walking simulators like Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture but also includes actual gameplay mechanics and puzzle-solving not unlike The Astronauts’ The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

The End of the Sun is currently being crowdfunded over on the Kickstarter page at the moment.

The game puts you in the role of a powerful divinator who can manipulate time. You’ll move back and forward through time, manipulating events in a non-linear way that has an effect on the future lives of the main characters that sit at the center of the story.

Along the way you’ll gain insight and knowledge about Slavic history and mythology, while also experiencing actual Slav architecture, attire, and lifestyle routines.

You can get a glimpse of what the game is like with the trailer and Kickstarter pitch video below.

What’s most impressive about the game is that in three year’s time a small team of three managed to build what looks like an AA-tier game on a fraction of the budget.

A lot of this was helped out thanks to asset propagation through photogrammetry, which relies on ultra-high definition photos of real-life objects that are scanned and roughly modeled into 3D meshes.

While photogrammetry still requires vertex clean-up it greatly reduces the need to manually sculpt objects, entities and assets for a game. In the case of The End of the Sun they not only used this technique to capture some of the unique Slavic culture of the past but also to capture actual locations such as the ethnographic museum in Szymbark, Poland.

Basically the game is as much about offering gamers a unique time-traveling adventure with puzzle elements and exploration as it is about educating you a little bit about how the Slavs lived during that time.

If you want to support the game you can do so by visiting the Kickstarter page.

The End of the Sun currently has a month to go on the crowdfunding platform and is seeking $12,000. They’ve already completed 17% of their goal so they’re definitely well on their way toward completion if they can maintain this pace for the rest of the month.

They’re expecting the game to launch by 2021 and you can currently wishlist and follow the game over on the Steam store page right now.
