According to a new report, the next “premium” Call of Duty game will be called “Black Ops Cold War.” The same report notes that this new installment/reboot will be unveiled through a Warzone “meta-game.”
The report in question comes from website videogameschronicle.com. And seeing how the website has a solid track record, it’s likely that the next Call of Duty game will be a pseudo reboot of the branching series known as “Black Ops.”
The website sourced a tweet from a Warzone player that discovered a “Black Ops Easter Egg,” which happens to be of an RC-XD, and this should ring a bell to anyone that played the older game’s multiplayer mode since it was a killstreak:
Here’s a couple of pictures of the RCXD in #warzone.

If you can’t tell what’s going on in the above pictures, we can see an untouched pack of batteries, a remote controller, and the chassis of the RC car. This scene can be found on a table in a shack to the West of the prison in Warzone.
Furthermore, Activision Blizzard’s Chief Operating Officer and president Daniel Alegre spoke to investors on May 6th to share Activision’s Q1 2020 results, and when doing so, he touched on how the next Call of Duty game is still being developed despite devs working from home.
Alegre also said that the next entry in the ongoing series will be a “premium” title, which is still on track to release sometime later this year.
Videogameschronicle.com also shared that Sledgehammer Games — a company known for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Call of Duty: WWII, and being visited by Feminist Frequency’s Anita Sarkeesian — is working on several titles as of this moment.
The website notes that Sledgehammer Games has conjured up a work scheduled dubbed “Decade II,” which helps the studio navigate through challenging times.
