Ghost of Tsushima Beats Out The Last Of Us: Part 2 On The UK Charts

The Last of Us: Part 2 only lasted three weeks on the UK charts and lost out to F1 2020 last week. If we compared the controversial 2020 game to God of War (2018), which stayed on the UK charts for five weeks in a row and lost out to another “big game” Detroit: Become Human, then we can see that the sequel to the 2013 game isn’t doing as well as it should. As of this week, Ghost of Tsushima has snagged the top spot.

To drive the point home that The Last of Us: Part 2 isn’t doing as well as it should, the game released during a time when nothing major was out and about. The game not only faced an 80% sales drop after its first week on the UK market, but it also faced a 53% sales drop in the UK a week afterward.

As for God of War (2018), despite it suffering from current year narratives, it managed to stay on the UK charts for five weeks in a row (reports ukie.org.uk) while fending off major names such as Detroit: Become Human, the monstrous Far Cry 5 that wouldn’t leave the UK charts in April, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, and Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition.

With that said, The Last of Us: Part 2 has fallen from rank three to rank five in two weeks time, and is now overshadowed by Ghost of Tsushima, Paper Mario: The Origami King, F1 2020, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons:

Last Week This Week Games
New 1 Ghost of Tsushima
New 2 Paper Mario: The Origami King
1 3 F1 2020
2 4 Animal Crossing: New Horizons
3 5 The Last of Us: Part 2
4 6 Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
6 7 Grand Theft Auto V
5 8 Minecraft Switch Edition
10 9 Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy
8 10 Luigi’s Mansion 3

As always, the first number represents last week’s placement. The second number serves as this week’s placement, while “New” stands for a new entry on the above list. Although it’s not here, “Re-entry” means a title that has returned on the top ten list.

From here, only expect The Last of Us: Part 2 to fluctuate here and there on the UK charts until it drops out of the top ten in August.

Lastly, Ghost of Tsushima is currently available to pick up ever since July 17th for the PS4 family of consoles.
